What is ELASTIC | Graduation Project

The project "Elastic" is my graduation design of bachelor degree. The concept "Elastic" means, the product do not have a definite function, it is just half designed. And users could create different functions by combining with their own life experience and needs, which means, the product could be redesigned by users. As a result, the users could redesign the function of the single product in different conditions in daily life. I designed two concepts in this project, Window portable lamp and Cube cushion.
Window | Portable Lamp

We always associate the brightness with the sunshine. When the sun shines through the window in the morning, we can not only feel the brightness, the warmth, but also something emotional, which brings peace in our mind. But nowadays in China, especially in megacities, we live a compact life, not everyone can possess a room with a bright window. Most people live in depression.

Window is a portable lamp which aim to improve the quality of our modern lives, arouse us of the feeling of the sunshine. It can be used as floor lamps, bedside lamps, or reading lamps. It all depends on users themselves.
Prototype.
Cube | Cushion

Nowadays in China, especially in megacities, we live a compact life. Most people are always in the dilemma: How to place the necessary furnitures in a compact room, or how many furnitures should I purchase. Bamboo Steamer is a traditional kitchenware in China. Its smart structure inspired me a better solution to this problem.

Users could stack the single cushion with each other to create platforms with different heights. After fusing together, the cushions could be used as tables, or stools, or... Users can always find out the new function with different combinations.
Thank you for watching!
